Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa and includes the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia. Tanzania is home to two renowned tourism destinations; Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro and wildlife-rich national parks such as the Serengeti National Park.
Tanzania is mountainous and densely forested in the northeast where Mount Kilimanjaro is located. Three of Africa’s Great Lakes are partly within Tanzania. To the north and west lie Lake Victoria the Africa’s largest lake and Lake Tanganyika the continent’s deepest lake known for its unique species of fish.
Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the Africa’s tallest mountain at 19,341 feet. Serengeti National Park spans 11,583 square miles. Tanzania has the highest concentration of wild game per square mile. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcanic depression.
Tanzania is a result of the unification of Tanganyika and the Zanzibar islands. Tanganyika and Zanzibar united on 26th April 1964 forming the United Republic of Tanzania. Tanganyika became independent from the British on December 1961 and Zanzibar became free through a revolution on 12th January 1964.
It was in August 2024 when I had my combined tour to Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania together with my friend and this adventure was the best experience of my lifetime.
Serengeti National Park is the most famous national park in Tanzania famed for a huge population of wildlife and the annual wildebeest migration (world’s largest movement of animals).
Ngorongoro conservation area is a famous Tanzania destination and is ranked in the 8th position for hosting Ngorongoro crater the world’s largest intact caldera. There is a lot of wildlife hosted on the floor of the caldera including prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards and many others which are seen during a game drive.
Our travel journey was organized and planned by Ecotours Tanzania that is managed by Nature Adventure Africa Safaris and these guys for real give out the best services.
On our 07 days migration safari, we came across a lot of tourist attractions in the famous northern Tanzania circuit.
Upon our arrival at the Kilimanjaro Airport, we were picked up by a professional guide representative from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris who briefed us about the safari. The briefing, he drove us towards the well-known famous national park in Tanzania, Serengeti National Park. On the way, we enjoyed the endless plains and the spectacular views though the journey was a bit long.
Serengeti National Park is the home of the Great Migration of about one million animals such as wildebeests, zebras, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and all kinds of antelopes including the abundant impalas and Thomson’s gazelles.
Upon arrival in Serengeti National Park, we just checked-in at Serengeti Sopa Lodge for meals and we spent the rest of the hours at relaxation at the lodge as we were waiting for dinner.
On our 2nd day, after having breakfast we went for a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. On this game drive we spotted a lot of animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, gazelles, Zebras, dik dik, impalas, warthogs, cheetahs among others. After returned to the lodge for lunch and freshening up.
After having some good hours of relaxing, we went back in the park for an afternoon game drive and we viewed more of wildlife and some birdlife species. After the game drive, we met our driver and returned back to lodge for dinner and sleepovers.
On our 3rd day, we had a morning game and later transferred to Ngorongoro conservation area. during this game drive, we still spotted the animals we saw the previous day such as lion, rhino, leopard, elephant and Cape buffalo roaming freely in their own habitat.
Returned in the lodge for freshening up, taking late breakfast, checking out at the lodge and later met our driver and embarked on our journey to Ngorongoro. On arrival, we checked-in at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for dinner and sleepovers. The lodge has got good customer services and its staff members are hospitable.
The following day was spent in Ngorongoro. In the morning after having breakfast and packing our picnic lunch, we descended into the crater floor for an incredible morning of wildlife in one of the most stunning places on Earth. The crater is one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black Rhino. The concentration of African wildlife is the greatest in the continent. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains.
We enjoyed a game drive around the crater and spotted a lot animals such as black rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, impalas, bush bucks, elands, hartebeests, water bucks, kudu, hippos, hyenas among others. We had our picnic lunch around the crater and later returned to the lodge for relaxing, dinner and sleepovers.
The 5th day, we had breakfast and later went for a simple game drive and viewed a lot of wildlife such as animals, plant and bird species. We had our picnic lunch next to Hippo Lake and later proceeded to the airport to catch up with our evening flight back home and that marked the end of 5 days safari in Tanzania. Thanks Nature Adventure Africa Safaris for the good services and I hope to travel with you on my next destination in Tanzania.
